    "Adastra" is Back + "Integral News and Views" News + Transcripts

    Hi all

    First off, a big thank you to Kirk at the "Member Delight" department for reactivating my old "adastra" account.  Smile [:)]

    For some time now my wife Liz and I have been sharing her "Tamgoddess" account, but since she rarely posts or downloads anymore it made more sense for me to go back to using "adastra".  So here I am, appearing again as myself (or at least, my online persona...hmm...how am I not myself?Stick out tongue [:P]

    I've continued to work on the blog I announced a while back, Integral News and Views (www.integralnews.com)

    Here are the blog posts that have appeared so far; I would welcome any comment, constructive criticism, or feedback anyone would like to offer publicly or privately.  :)

    Robert Augustus Masters Interview: What Is Integral? (Nov. 14, 2007)

    Rebuilding Everything
    (Nov. 19, 2007)

    Integral Politics (Ken Wilber transcript) (Nov. 23, 2007)

    The Globalist and an Integral Approach to World Events (Nov. 28, 2007)

    More Than Entertainment: The Fountain (Dec. 2, 2007)

    Lucid Dreaming
    (Dec. 7, 2007)

    Lucid Dreaming and Awakening: an Interview with Robert Augustus Masters (Dec. 15, 2007)

    Dream Tripping: Dream Drugs as Metaphor
    (Dec. 26, 2007)

    Dream Yoga
    (Dec. 30, 2007)

    Suicide Dictionary: Illumination Experience (Jan. 4, 2008)

    Blind Compassion (Jan. 8, 2008)

    I-Thou: Twenty-Four Hour Lament
    (Jan. 10, 2008)

    Jacques Vallee's Integral Approach to UFO Phenomena (Jan. 18, 2008)

    Infinity Hymn - Stuart Davis (Jan. 31, 2008)

    ~~~
    Another way I've been serving the integral movement is by writing transcripts.  I just published a new one:
    Turquoise Shadow (transcript of a conversation with Ken Wilber); this is part two of a conversation that started with Nameless Dread on the Brink of the Transpersonal.
    I'm really busy with various stuff going on in my life, in both the physical and virtual worlds, so I'll likely continue to only pop in from time to time.
    be well and happy,
    Arthur
    Hi Arthur,
    I liked the 'I Heart Huckabee' clip. Very cool. Must go see the movie.
    Thanks for the input!
    Thanks for the comments on the blog (and thanks in advance for any more feedback/constructive criticism/etc. that may come my way in the future).
    Hi Grey.  Yeah, the globalist blog has been one of the stellar items so far, for sure.  Smile [:)]
    In all seriousness, entries drawing attention to other material/websites/resources of interest to integral consciousness are very much of interest, especially if they come at it from an angle that reg'lar people may find more accessible.  For example, I'd love to have somebody write a good entry on David Brin's attempts to get past the culture war in the U.S., and either help reconcile the two groups - or at least take the stance (as a progressive) of trying to understand the "other side" and speak in their language.  These are important steps toward moving in the direction of the integral worldview.
    spiral out,
    Arthur
    Arthur here's my response to your blog - a note I made a couple of weeks back and was saving for a general, 'Check this out' thread, but since I'm so damn slow, and you've made the call, here it is:
    Some good shit on Dreams, and a beautiful piece of writing on encountering/serving the mentally ill.  Blind Compassion (Jan. 8, 2008)  There's also a piece on UFOs, a subject which personally makes my toes curl with boredom but...,  I know they're a source of fascination for many, and, moreover, the article is a sophisticated take on the matter penned by an Enlightenment Today editor.
    I linked to Blind Compassion because it should be read. It really is beautiful.
    As to criticism, not as such, save that my own preference is for plenty of images.
    Cheers,
    Castel
    Arthur,
    my last post was quite spontanous and a bit in a hurry. Maybe I didn't give your blogs the attention they deserved. I picked some of them at random and found them to be quite inspiring.
    In the meantime, I managed to rent the 'I Heart Huckabees' DVD. Great movie, with a lot of laughs. Quite fun. A lovely Isabelle Huppert and Naomi Watts. And also a fun persiflage of the Psycho-Therapist Scene. I loved it. Thanks again for pointing me to it, I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.
    As a penance for not paying attention to your blogs, I'll do the ball thing for the next two hours. :)
    Thanks for the kudos, Castel!  The Blind Compassion blog is one of my favorites so far; Jayne Sorrels is great.  I also loved Annie McQuade's I-Thou: Twenty-Four Hour Lament - it really captures something important and wonderful about meeting people where they are; heart-warming and inspiring stuff.
    Thanks for the comment on wanting more pictures - me too!  (The illustration for the Suicide Dictionary: Illumination Experience is beautiful, spiritual, and erotic - three of my favorite qualities in a work of art.)   I've been concentrating more on text so far, but if anyone knows of integral artists who are willing to license digital reproductions of some of their work under Creative Commons (or have already done so), please let me know!  It's a great form of viral marketing.  Big Smile [:D]
    namaste,
    LOL - the ball thing has become a core part of my ILP.  Stick out tongue [:P]
    You can subscribe to the blog feed if you like, so you won't miss anything.  Great to hear that you have found the blog entries you read to be inspiring.
    BTW, here's how I came to be working on this blog: Since June I've been living in Sacramento with Liz, and I'm applying for "legal alien" status; meanwhile I can do freelance work, but not be hired by someone on an ongoing basis.
    Paul/iKarma generously offered to sponsor a project to help make the integral worldview more accessible to more people, committing to making weekly donations to the blog for one year; what I've earned through the donation button on my blog is a small fraction of what I made at the Vancouver Public Library when I worked there, but it's made an important difference for us and it gives me the motivation and excuse to work on something I care passionately about.  It's a good thing.Smile [:)]
    The kudos is all yours, Arthur.  I have to say, though, shite, and damn my confusion. The writing I was referring to is the Annie McQuade piece. I-Thou: Twenty Four Hour Lament. Apposite you should point it out. Thanks! And thanks, too, for the chance to really check out 'Blind Compassion'. (I thought I had) I don't find it beautiful in quite the same way as the Annie McQuade, but, nonetheless, totally otm, and instructive.
    And thanks for the link to Suicide Dictionary and accompanying image; I've seen that one before, and like it. I have to confess, though, to a bit of a bug up my ass about Integral and art. I'd like to see them recognizing the play of spirit in a much wider range of art, rather than attempting to legislate what is, and isn't, Integral Art.
    Best, and continuing power to your Blog efforts,
    Castel
    Hey Arthur
    Your so intense and transformative.   I clicked on the dream yoga article.  As a child I would lucid dream all the time.  Now I sleep so deeply- deep dark abyss - no one visits me......
    However I am so well rested........
    How have you been?
    Hi Trish
    Good to see you again; I've been quite well thanks - lots of ups and downs, growth opportunities, general life stressors etc., but on balance things are going very well.  I'm having "I love California!" moments lately as the weather turns bright and sunny (in freakin' February!) and my winter slump seems to be lifting somewhat.
    Glad you liked the Dream Yoga article; have you read any of the other lucid dreaming articles that were posted around the same time?  There will be another short blog on that subject by Robert Augustus Masters in the relatively near future, by the way.  I have also been enjoying a fun book called The Head Trip by Jeff Warren, which deals with a variety of interesting altered states including lucid dreaming.  (Check out this highly entertaining YouTube video of the book launch in Toronto.)
    Good to hear you've been sleeping so deeply/restoratively.  Have you had any conscious awareness in those deep dreamless spaces?
    namaste,
    Arthur
