    Obama and the Eclipse

    Hi All,

A new moon occurs once every 29 plus days, and according to basic lunation theory it represents the point in the soli-lunar cycle of maximum infusion of energy. Occasionally the sun and the moon line up not only in longitudinal conjunction but in latitude, the result of this positioning is a solar eclipse. This is thought to represent an upward shift in the order of magnitude of the infusion of energy.

The moment of an eclipse in map form can be superimposed on a well-timed birth map of any individual, allowing ready access to an examination of possibilities inherent in the moment. Recently the birth certificate of Barack Obama was made public (thanks to the Daily Kos) and it notes his birth time.

Its worth noting that besides his well-known verbal skills, Obama is basically a technique oriented person and a guy who thrives on hard work. And while it's true that his birth map does not offer clear indications usually thought to go with that of a great leader; it does nonetheless show some relatively rare special indications. Most noteworthy among them is a rapport between his interface with the world (i.e. both how he sees himself and how others see him) and between the American people in general.

This is the sort of rapport that Americans in the past have found very attractive in the lives of  Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan, albeit in a slightly different form. It's not so much a leader-follower type rapport, as it is what might be described as an exemplar form. In other words, a part of Obama’s appeal to the American public is that he represents a real possibility of a more integrated form of human political person, someone who is actively engaged in the process of dealing with his “higher angels”, someone who is not just talking the talk, but actually walking the walk.

But he has no easy task before him, this is especially so because there are considerable doubts about him and his capacities, and he is up against an opposition who will do most anything in their power to exploit these doubts.

So he needs a similar effort in exploiting his own positives, which based on an examination of the eclipse, are an emphasis on his considerable sense of personal magnetism, and his uncanny way with words. But if he falls back on generalities in speech my guess is it won’t be sufficient to carry the day; however if he is wise enough to develop and adopt certain techniques of speech, patterns that the public would recognize as his speaking directly to them on a one-to-one basis, as if he and every American were involved in a personal relationship, it's perfectly possible for him to not only win the election but to do so with a plurality sufficient to be seen as a mandate; something that he will find to be extremely valuable should he become the next President of the United States.

    Warmly,

    Charles

Charles, do you think that this McCain ad that endeavors to speak of some of this dynamism from a mocking slant is arrising from the same recognition of which you speak? Click on You-tube:

    Re: Obama and the Eclipse

    Hi Ambo,

Yes indeed this is an excellent example of what the Obama campaign is up against and his opponents are just beginning. They are not fools. Witness how skillfully they spent a very little amount of money by running this ad only in very selective markets and yet managed to get widespread exposure of it through the free media. Yikes, it even ended up in this forum! But they have made their intent known; it is to make the campaign about Obama and his weaknesses both imagined and real. The Obama folks now have the option of treating this knowledge similar to the way a good poker player uses an opponents “tell”.

But as difficult as this campaign may be for Obama my guess is that it will fail as a test of his potentials compared to the formidable tasks that await him on January 20, 2009 should he succeed to the presidency on that day.

So my counsel to him personally would be to do everything in his power to establish one-to-one relations with John and Jane Q. Public. He needs a TV and Internet version of what FDR did on the radio through what were called ‘the fireside chats.’ In addition he's better off on the high road, and eschew the politics of personal destruction; which is not to say that pointing out the possible weaknesses of a John McCain presidency is off-limits. There are for example serious questions to be raised about the organizational and managerial skills of the senator from Arizona. On a scale of one to 10 they come in at about two or three.

For me it's actually an interesting study. I've been watching politics for over 50 years, and i've never seen anything quite like the Obama phenomenon.

It's important to remember that Americans tend to be a moody bunch; and if the mood hits almost anything can happen here.

    Warmly,

    Charles
