Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Dance Gala

As many of you must know, the conference is way sold out and there is an impossible waiting list.
There is going to be a Shindig on Saturday night, some dance and such. I've been asked to do a dance number - and I've included herebelow a You-tube snippet of some of what I do. I've aged pretty well - I think it's the dancing. I look forward to being rushed in adoration and awe by one and all. ambo
    My little audition.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Dance Gala

Obviously with the above post - kiidddinng! Though the four day event should be marvelously intense, this marvelously flexible popper is, despite my envious wishes, not me and will not be at the Saturday night dance. Too bad, eh? I've never seen anything like it - I'll move this video now to a new thread here in Interplay

One conference dilemna still remains - their are so many interesting sessions, so many difficult choices to make about which sessions to attend. And the panels - all interesting - one may have to roll the dice at a few spots to decide.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Dance Gala

Hello, I am flying in on Tuesday for the conference and I'll be in San Francisco all-day on Wednesday if there is anyone who would like to meet with me for any reason.  It's not obvious why anyone would but I will have the time and interest in meeting with anyone who wants the inside scoop on everything going on at Institute or Life.  Send me an email if you'd like to, rsmith at integrallife.com.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Dance Gala

Dear Robb:  Are you kidding?   I would love to have the opportunity to sit and  talk with you- inside scoop on everything going on at Institute or Life.  I sometimes do regret that I live in another country (Florida) and at my age with airlines having growing pains etc. along with other reasons, I think my conference days are over.  I do wish for everyone a great good time.  Wanted you to know I would take you up on your offer in a heart beat.   If you can think of another way to get the inside info out, I will definitely be  interested.    I am wondering how you might be feeling about the Life that is going on now on this side of town.   Things Change.   I personally very much appreciate your offer.  It means a lot .   Thanks    Pattye

PS  This opens doors for connecting with friendliness in the future if  needed and feels very warm.  I like warm.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - reports in!

    Hello Integral web-surfers! Smile [:)]

I find myself in the good graces to be in attendance at the conference, while double dipping on a business trip to the Bay area. For those of you folks who are interested, I'll give tell about some of the presentations. However, I suppose it would be for the greater good to leave any discussion of the Steve McIntosh presentation to writers and informants of greater talent....Wink [;)]

Barbara Dossey, speaking eloquently, painted a mental framework of “The edge-runner” emergence in evolution and specifically in the field of health care. Illustrating Florence Nightingale as an edge runner, and a mystic of her time, she spoke of the theory of Integral Nursing, and illustrated the available perspectives from each of the AQUAL four quadrants, with healing being the central focus in the matrix, and of course, the intention of health care.

As a nurse herself, she embraces the holistic and traditional nursing methods and recognizes that there are serious problems in the system we have in the United States with care providers burning out and leaving the profession. Reconnecting with the spiritual motivation for the work engages the UR aspect, of the work, while a call to colleagues in the world of medicine for help in the UL was something I resonated with personally.

An appeal for the signature drive of the “Nightingale Declaration” was made; please visit www.NightingaleDeclaration.net to sign the pledge and support:

    1) A grassroots-to- global campaign gathering 2 million signatures from all 192 UN Member States; 2) a UN resolution for an international year of the nurse in 2010-the centennial of Florence Nightingales death; 3) A UN resolution for a UN Decade for a Healthy World—2011 to 2020—The bicentennial of Nightingales birth; 4) A series of global consultations and regional education programs to build a worldwide collaborative NDC team.

    Here is the Pledge:

"We, the nurses and concerned citizens of the global community, hereby dedicate ourselves to the accomplishment of a healthy world by the year 2020.

We declare our willingness to unite in a program of action, sharing information and solutions to resolve problems and improve conditions -- locally, nationally and globally -- in order to achieve health for all humanity.

We further resolve to adopt personal practices and to implement public policies in our communities and nations, making this goal for the year 2020 achievable and inevitable, beginning today in our own lives, in the life of our nations and in the world at large."

    www.NightingaleDeclaration.net

A question that was asked spoke of the masculine/feminine influences and imbalance in the workplace and the circumstances of employment that the Nurses operate in. A physician in attendance and Mrs. Dossey both viewed that as areas of necessary work in what I would classify as the lower left and right quadrants.

Barbara Dossey is the the author of many respected and award winning books. Her latest book, Florence Nightingale: Mystic, Visionary, Healer, focuses on the philosophical and practical impact of Florence Nightingale's life and work on modern nursing and humankind.

Her website has a transcript of the speech she gave about Florence Nightingale in the Washington National Cathedral, in August, 2001.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - reports in!

Thanks Baker Bunny:   I had no idea that Florence Nightingale was a mystic. I will look up the info on that.  I have nurse friends and it will be great to have that little piece of information-  the name of a woman who is not a Catholic Saint . There are a couple of others but it does seem that I cannot bring them up in conversation much to try and see who is hungry for info on a subject that can be scarey to some.

Today, however, the docs and nurses are moving right along with the Physical Therapists at their sides as they make rounds and even are getting cozy with the Chiopractors in some instances.  And the massage is actually thought well of in this day and time for "Healing" by the medical community.  It is coming through like a freight train as Alan   (what's his name- he has been on with KW)   says after living with the Tibetian monks for 4 years and becoming one interpreter for the Dali Lama.

He helped with the book   "Destructive Emotions"  with  Dali Lama and Daniel Goldman and has writtten very scholarly books of his own.  It takes time to read them.  Des. Emotions was an easier read.  The freight train he speaks of is the good and wonderful stuff that we are slowly realizing all the wealth in other countries about healing besides meditation.I have heard of Barbara Dossey and now am eager to check out F. N.  Please do report back.  It is

my job to check on everything since things just pop up for me within the mounds of information.  And I can pretty well spot certain things  without reading it all.   I read all of yours since I am in the Care TAking world myself.

Are you a Baker (yummy stuff)  or a Bunny (or have bunnies)  or a Nurse and what mountains do you live in?   If you feel like giving that out.   Paragraphs are just moving all over the place tonight.  And I need to go to bed.    And I will run off what you sent since I do know some nurses- one lives right behind me.  Thanks in advance for reporting.  And have fun.    Pattye    PS   Psychotherapy is what I do but I am interested in most anything you send from this conference.

ah, back in the mountains of the Warren, Wink [;)],  and i am all of that and yet none! hmmm. Yes, is does appear that there is recognition of all of the quadrants so involved in the field.

I'll see what happens as to further content. ASmile [:)]nyone else?
