Coolness. ![Smile [:)]](/Public/cs/emoticons/emotion-1.gif) Liz and I have both applied to volunteer for this event, so hopefully we'll get to go after all. (It would be very difficult for us to afford the fee at this time, otherwise.) We will find out in a few weeks if we get to volunteer. So maybe we'll see you there! spirals, Arthur

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
Jared:My friend Shane and I were planning on making it. There's a weekend at Esalen too, about a week after that. We thought we might hit both. We're hoping to meet more people in the integral community in California, any tips. Hope this finds you well. Jared
In response to Jared, and all of you attending the Theory Conference, there is a 5 day seminar in Santa Cruz right afterwards (August 10-15) entitled 'Integral Life for Generation Next'.
check it out at: http://www.i-next.org
Its for 20-35 year olds, and will have some of the theory conference presenters...
Clint from I-I, Jonathan Reams from Integral Review, Stephan Martineau from Next Step Integral
As well as...
Diane Hamilton, Jamie Wheal from Stagen, Jesse Mckay from Pacific Integral, Brian Berger-Ken's personal assistant, and many others.
I would love to see some of you there!

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
Arthur - I hope you get to go, also. If I may be so presumptuous as to understate the obvious, you have expressed and given so much of your passion, energy, and intentness to exploring the integral phenomenon, the integral movement, the social and the individual. Here, away from your usual means of livelihood, getting to volunteer and attend would seem to be a very modest acknowledgement of it all. I'm imagining that there might be a lot of people asking to volunteer, but it would be good to see you who so many people know and recognize as Arthur and Adastra. Me in my very small personal ways and you in your more daring expansive experimental ways and us all in our own idiosyncratic ways have probably grown plenty, to say the least, in this strange crucible of mind and cyber network, orbitting within the gravitational pulls and sometimes polar pushings of Ken and of integral possibilities. I am quite curious how this conference will present itself. Probably see you there. Yoh, ambo

Thanks, Ambo. It's been a pretty wild trip, eh? And still just getting started... I will get to go, yes. I'll do three half-days during the conference itself, and something before and/or after - the details won't be set for a while, but those are the parameters as they've been explained to me. It is being organized to maximize the chance that the volunteers will get to go to the stuff they are really interested in, and we'll have the option of trading off with other volunteers. See you there! spiral out, Arthur

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
Has anyone been to one of these before? I'm seriously thinking of going and could use some good reasons.
Thanks, Mark

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
"Has anyone been to one of these before?"
Hi, Mark. I say with a smile and warm humor, "No." this is the Ist Biennial Integral Theory Conference. That could be a reason - "It's a first."
It would be good to meet more people. Though I tend to be a bit held back socially, I know that I have some small enthusiasm building in me to meet some "integral" folks - including you, if you come. Obviously, the few that have mentioned their coming already on this thread will be there.
I personaly don't have super high expectations for being launched via the presentions into stratospheric states, but I think that I will benefit from the knowledge and exposure. I like to think that little by little, for my work and in connection with friends, family, and others, I am broadened and deepened by conference exposures. I sense that you already have a very large knowledge base on integral theory, so that may not be such a draw - it could seem pretty basic to you - but I don't really know whether you might not learn some things anyway. Also, as you know, sometimes events unexpectedly develop a fairly shared feeling that is quite nice, maybe a bit high and exciting.
I know that you know all of this already, so come because "it's a first." ambo

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
I'm still working on freeing up my schedule for the conference itself, though I do plan to be in SF for that Sun. & Mon. the 10th and 11th for the sole purpose of meeting some of you folks, who I've only 'known' on-line so far.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
hi all,
i'm getting more and more excited about this, just reading your messages. while, like arthur and liz, i'm somewhat concerned about how expensive this could turn out to be, i'm hoping to be in the bay area for a week or so, just to take advantage of all the people who will be showing up at that time.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
I just filled out a questionnaire designed to help the organizers decide what presentations will be most sought after and thereby which sized rooms to assign. It was an interesting process to choose what course titles most draw me. What about presenters? Which presenters do any of you think would be somewhere near to a must see? Which presenters do you especially like? And if there is a why you like them, that would be interesting to hear as I/we try to decide how to make some hard decisions of which opportunity to go with. I'm going to place a link here to the questionnaire and if you click on "Presentations" on another link you can see who the presenters are also. http://www.integraltheoryconference.org/page/page/5433778.htmhttp://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=CcjXdDRJYADZ13GcK8mmTQ_3d_3dOr any other thoughts about the presentation topics? I felt diappointed at one point when I saw that on Friday at 4:00 there were the integral coaching and psychotherapy at the same time since I had some curiosity about them both. ambo

thanks ambo,
i need to rethink my reservations about buying the mp3 that, i understand, would include this amazing wealth of presentations.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
Ralph - Yeah, I was tempted to get the mp3 also, But I think I'll wait. I often get more input available for myself than I really want to digest - so, I'll see how the conference goes first. Any absolutely total faves for you on this list, or simply, 'all good'.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
hi ambo,
i have a way of getting confused about these things, but my understanding is that the mp3 would be a recording of all the presentations. is that right? that could be invaluable, imo, in the same way that that an IN dialogue, say, reveals to us worlds not available from the printed page.
and, just looking at the abstracts, i might be turned off by one now, only to be ignited by the actual presentation. or, a year from now i might become especially interested in something that's not even on my radar screen at present.
and it would all be waiting there on that mp3 for the if and when.

Re: 1st Biennial Integral Theory Conference - Who's Going?
Sort of randomly, I say I hope Elliot Benjamin is going. I just read some articles by him from Integral World and I think he is marvelous. http://www.integralworld.net/benjamin8.htmlI feel/think that he has so much honesty, integrity, frank openness, and passion for his life, its "natural dimension". I found myself unexpectedly inspired. From the article above there are links to two more of his articles. I found it all to integrous, well again, with integrity. I liked his analysis of II as a spiritual organization, particularly using the Bonewits scale; I thought it was fair, and it resonated with me in my own unmeasured assessment and intuition. (I thought it was interesting to casually apply th Bonewits to myself.) In the last link I read he mentioned how the Hesse book Demian touched him so deeply. I think that somewhere in the past I mentioned here on IN that Demian was my favorite Hesse story. I notice that following my long early morning read I am waxing a bit effulgent about Elliot's integral inquiries and how he is inhabiting himself. Hope he's there at the conference.
